I earned my bachelor and master's degrees in geology at Iowa State University. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate in astrobiology at the University of Hong Kong. My adviser, Steve Pointing, and I have been involved in the Pavilion Lake Research Project since 2007. My research focuses on the microbial ecology of Earth's Mars-like environments, such as the high-attitude desert in Tibet and Pavilion Lake in British Columbia.

Besides work, my other passions are traveling, cooking, and yoga. I aspire to become a successful scientist, of course. But one day I would also like to open my own bakery.
