Affiliation: The University of Calgary
Certification/Education:
Ph.D. (current) The University of Calgary
M.Sc. (2008) McMaster University
B.Sc. (2006) McMaster University

Ben is currently a Ph.D. student in the University of Calgary's Applied Geochemistry Group. His current research focuses on environmental and applied geochemistry relating to the Alberta Oil Sands region. Ben recently completed his M.Sc. thesis with Dr. Greg Slater at McMaster University, using compound-specific radiocarbon analysis to delineate biodegradation pathways and microbial carbon cycling processes in petroleum-contaminated environments. He also completed his B.Sc. at McMaster in Earth and Environmental Sciences with a specialization in geochemistry. Ben maintains a strong interest in the geological and geochemical processes that led to the origin(s) of life on Earth, and has been a member of PLRP since 2006.
